Introduction to the Intel Programme

Here is a  PowerPoint presentation, which will help you introduce the intel programme to your students.

Introduction to the Intel Programme

To integrate technology into the curriculum it is necessary to consider the following questions:

1. Which aspects of the curriculum can be best taught through technology?

2. How can we help our students integrate technology in their learning programme?

3. How can we help them integrate the subjects and technology and learn through projects?

Levels of Integration

A unit of the syllabus is presented through technology. Students watch and learn.

Students are guided to prepare a presentation and learn through technology.

Students use technology to present their projects to class. Others learn by watching them.

1.

How do we begin?

Undergo the Intel Pre service Programme

Use the Binder

Use the CD

Use the websites

Learn from the samples

Implement keeping our context in mind

How do we proceed?

Discuss and identify areas of the curriculum that can be best taught through technology.

Select areas and decide which group would like to contribute for specific topics.

Prepare unit plans, share, revise and polish.

Prepare a set of guidelines for using these plans.

What do we need to prepare?

unit plan & introduction presentation

Student samples

multimedia presentation & evaluation tool

newsletter & evaluation tool [optional]

website & evaluation tool [optional]

Unit support materials

Teacher presentation& support materials

Implementation plan & class management

Acknowledgement

How do we go about it?

Understand essential and unit Qs

View the samples Qs from the

Binder

CD

websites

Prepare, share within your group and discuss

Discuss with the whole group

Revise and finalize

How do we prepare the student samples?

Think of the expected response from the students to answer the unit questions.

Decide what they might present through Multimedia, Newsletter, Website.

Decide which parts of your plan can be done outside the computer lab.

How many hours of computer you need to book for executing your plan.

What next?

Prepare student samples

Prepare a teacher presentation

Prepare an introduction presentation

Share and discuss with the whole group

Revise and finalize

Add to the Portfolio Bank

What is a Portfolio Bank?

A collection of unit portfolios complete with the necessary support materials that can be used with or without modifications at a particular level.

Unit plans can be chosen from the Portfolio Bank and used for specific purposes.

This would ensure that the materials prepared are used maximally and save the time and energy of teachers in portfolio productions.

Future Possibilities

Best of students work could be collected and stored in CDs.

One or more computers could be made available in the library where these materials are accessible.

Research could be taken up in Technology Aided Learning.

Materials and research reports could be made available to others through the student corner of our website www.researchcompanion.com

All the best!

Enjoy your adventure into Technology Aided Learning and make the most of it!
